How to check your COE expiry date
Short answer

Log in to OneMotoring with Singpass and use the e-service "Enquire COE Expiry Dates and PQP Rates". It shows your vehicle's COE expiry date and the PQP you would pay to renew. Treat any date on old paperwork as a hint only, because a renewed COE changes it. Start planning about three months before the date.

Why the exact date matters

A new COE lets a vehicle be used on Singapore's roads for 10 years. LTA requires every registered vehicle to have a valid COE, and the COE must be renewed before it expires. The rest of the renewal decision depends on that date, so it helps to know it exactly.

The date decides three things: which month's PQP you can renew at, how long you have to arrange the money, and whether you can still collect a PARF or COE rebate if you decide not to renew. If you miss it, the car is deregistered on that day and cannot be driven.

Check it on OneMotoring

The authoritative date is the one in LTA's records, and the fastest way to see it is LTA's own e-service. It takes a few minutes.

01Open OneMotoring's digital servicesGo to onemotoring.lta.gov.sg and open the Digital Services list.
02Choose "Enquire COE Expiry Dates and PQP Rates"This e-service requires a login. Log in with your Singpass as the vehicle owner.
03Read the expiry date for your vehicleThe same screen shows the COE expiry date and the PQP rates that apply to your vehicle, which is the figure LTA will actually charge.
04Write the date down somewhere you will see itPut it in your calendar with a reminder three months ahead, not one week ahead. The section below explains why.

If you also want the car's first registration date, LTA's Enquire My Vehicle Details e-service shows the registration details for vehicles you own. LTA's COE renewal page points to it for exactly that purpose.

Other places the date turns up, and why to double-check them

Paperwork from when you bought the car, such as a dealer's sales agreement or your loan documents, often states a COE expiry date. Check it against OneMotoring. If the COE has been renewed since that paperwork was printed, the date on it is wrong, and second-hand cars change hands with renewed COEs all the time.

We would not rely on a reminder either. LTA's renewal guidance puts the duty on the owner to renew before expiry and does not describe a reminder you can count on, so track the date yourself.

Looking at a used car? Ask the seller for the COE expiry date and to show it on OneMotoring. A car with 18 months of COE left and a car with 8 years left are very different purchases at a similar asking price.

What the date tells you

Once you have the date, these are the rules that apply to it, all taken from LTA's COE renewal page.

If youWhat happens
Renew in the month your COE expiresYou pay that month's PQP. The new COE runs for 5 or 10 years.
Renew earlier than your expiry monthYour new COE starts on the 1st of the month after you renew, and you forfeit the unused part of the old one.
Want next month's PQPIt is published after the second bidding exercise of the current month, and you can renew at it from the Friday after that exercise.
Reach the expiry date without renewingThe vehicle is automatically deregistered and cannot be used on the roads until the COE is renewed.
Renew within 1 month after expiryAllowed, at the PQP of your expiry month, plus a late renewal fee of $50 to $250.
Go past that monthRenewal closes and the vehicle must be disposed of.

Because of the forfeit rule, renewing several months early rarely pays: the new term starts next month and whatever was left on the old COE is lost, with no rebate. The full picture of expiry, the late window and disposal is in what happens when your COE expires.

What to do once you know it

Once you know the date, there are four decisions to make, in this order.

  • Renew or let it go. If you deregister before the COE expires, you get a COE rebate, and a PARF rebate too if the car is not more than 10 years old. Let the COE expire first and both are gone. Our renew or scrap guide and the rebate calculator put a number on it.
  • 5 years or 10. A 5-year renewal costs 50% of the PQP; a 10-year renewal costs the full PQP. For Cat A, B and D, the 5-year option can be taken only once. See 5 years or 10.
  • Which month's PQP. In October 2026 the 10-year PQP is $128,715 for Cat A and $131,616 for Cat B. If the trend is clearly rising, renewing in the month before your expiry month can lock in the lower figure. The new COE then starts on the 1st of your expiry month, so you forfeit the days between that date and your expiry date, with no rebate for them. Track it on the PQP page.
  • How you pay. LTA takes the PQP online by eNETS Debit (personal accounts, up to $100,000) or, for amounts over $100,000, SGQR PayNow. Most owners finance it; the renewal loans guide explains how those loans are priced.

How far ahead to start planning

LTA does not set a planning timeline; this is the one we use with customers, working back from the expiry date.

WhenWhat we would do
6 months beforeConfirm the date on OneMotoring. Start watching the PQP each month.
3 months beforeDecide renew or scrap. Get your rebate figure and an idea of the car's condition.
1 to 2 months beforeChoose 5 or 10 years. Apply for financing, or check that your bank's online transfer limit covers six figures.
Expiry monthPay LTA and confirm the renewal shows on OneMotoring.
Up to 1 month afterLate renewal only, with a fee, and the car stays off the road until it is done.

Three months allows time for a slow loan approval, raising a bank transfer limit, or a decision your family wants to talk through. Each of these can take days.

What we would check for your car

Send us your plate's COE expiry month and category and we will send you the PQP you can renew at and your estimated monthly for 5 and 10 years, side by side, so you can decide. We arrange COE renewal loans with banks and finance companies: $0 down, no admin or processing fees, from 2.58% flat (2.80% if a 10-year renewal is spread over more than 7 years), subject to lender approval.
